Desert Moonlight Miniatures, whats that? says the husband.
To be perfectly honest, I wasn't sure what to expect in a Mini Horse Farm and in my wife. (I think I'm a prime candidate for Government Assistance.)
My wife has been on me forever, I need this built or that repaired, my manly excuses have always been, "Sweetheart, I don't have the tools for that!', 'If I had the tools, I could." Oops! UPS, Fed-Ex and every other delivery and postal entity you could think of started showing up at the house. I thought, wow, I've been a really good boy for all these manly toys to be showing up for me. Miter saw, table saw, framing hammers and framing bags, levels, caulk line, the list goes on.
I never saw it coming!
In the beginning a lot of structural ideas and property outlines and designs come to the farm.
From a somewhat unused, unrealized piece of dry property, to a flourishing private property development. This all accomplished in just over a year's time.
Fencing went up, corals were built with nice shades, and a tack shed.
All this as we build, I'm thinking, wow this is very nice. "My wife is a genius," I think to myself, if I tell her, she will think I've been in the corn spirits, so I keep to myself.
I hear rumor of a mini barn on the drawing board, I was curious of what a mini barn would look like. My wife with all her wisdom and googling ability enlightens my curiosity, expanding my mind with numerous designs she finds on the Internet for the project. Many sheets of paper were crumbled up in the beginning stages, as our ideas came to light.
The world as we once knew, had changed in a blink of an eye, or so it has seemed. I do remember all the sweating and hammer strikes to the fingers, the near misses with the electric saws, but soon they are but a memory, memories which the mind leads you to believe were pleasurable experiences, especially after you peer at the finished project. Life changed at the Covey house.
The mini's started flocking to the Farm, my wife is very passionate for the little ones. A mind of their own they trot through our world making us laugh, making us cry. It's new and exciting.
Our first Desert Moonlight Miniature baby arrived the other night. "It's a Filly," my wife cries. Tears of joy ring out in the Barn, as we watch the miracle of birth and of a new life.
The multiplying, grass eaters have sparked concern for new grassy area's and fencing, we just keep growing.
Desert Moonlight Mini's will continue to grow with the Love of God in our Lives!
Amen.

Dolly is doing good today We are at 325 days. I Checked her bag Last night and it was small puffy and very warm , I rechecked her this morning and it had gone down was small a cool . I'm sure hoping she takes off real soon and starts to really get a bag, the waiting is terrible when you want to meet the little one . I was brushing her last night and Baby was really Kicking my hand it wasn't happy that I was disturbing it neither was Dolly.
I even put my cheak up to her Belly and got a Kick.

Well its been awhile since I lost posted . Dolly is progressing well, getting bigger by the day she is Due April 21st. We are so excited . Ive got the Barn all set up with Video cameras and monitors awaiting the big event. When she starts getting close there will be no sleep for me Ill be on mare stare. Foaling kit is coming together and I have a Foaling alarm on its way, this will tell me when the mare lays down for any length of time to alert me to check on her. Ive posted pregnant pics of her in the Gallery under Dolly's file.
Debutant has been under the Weather. We had the Vet out the other day, she has had a very bad Runny nose with a fowl smell to it and I haven't been Abel to get it under control. So the vet put her on an antibiotic and has done a culture, which ill find out next week how that is . So far she has had 5 days of Antibiotics and is doing very well no more runny nose and the smell is gone. she is feeling much better Running around and feeling very good about life.
Sunny Moved into the barn the beginning of winter, she is very happy to be in there with the Minis as she loves them so much especially Debutant that's her little girl. We made the other side of the Barn Sunny size she has a 10 x 12 stall to herself that looks right across to the little one's.
The Barn
Well we have added electricity. We put up the lights and now have power its so cool, all I do is plug in my stuff and away I go , I can clip them in there and plug in my fans and I don't even have to worry about extension cords Its so cool oh and we have running water in there to.
we also have just finished the back doors. We still have a bit to do to it .We have to finish the other side and make permanent front walls for Sunny right now her pipe corral is in there. We have to do the front doors , Oh and I want to repaint it I'm not totally satisfied with the color, Just not sure what color I want I would love for it to be barn red with white trim, But I dont think my Husband will allow that will see.
Ill keep everyone updated untill then Take care and God bless.

Dolly is Finley home
, We went and picked her up a couple weeks ago. She has settled in real well and is doing Great. She is such a love and wants all the attention . I will be having her Ultra sounded in October to confirm that she is in foal.
I also started her Ground driving training last night. I did some desensitizing Like pulling around a muck cart while leading her and I also rubbed a plastic bag over her, she definitely didn't like that much at first but after about 20 minutes or so I was able to put it on her back and lay it in front of her she even stepped on it a little I'm real excited about her progress and training Im looking forward to more ground driving its so much fun.
The Barn is comming along. I have two stalls done and both Debutant and Dolly are housed in them. We have updated pictures posted in the photo Gallery . Its been a slow Build but were getting there.

We took a trip today, Our friends Bill and Lynn took us to Chino Valley AZ to pick up our new baby " Little Miss Debutant." We just love her, she is so little, cute as a bug. Boy can she be a pistol, she hasn't been messed with much so she will need a lot of attention. That's ok, I have all the time in the world for her. Our trip was long, but we made it, she did very well on the ride home. I was really concerned about the heat when we came over the Mountain's on the way home, Thank God it wasn't 120*, it was only around 105*.
When we got her home we shaved her baby fur off and gave her a bath, boy was that fun, I think I got more wet then she did. I think she and Kevin are going to be real close, she loves him, he is so patient with her. I have video and pictures posted of her very busy day, they are so cute. She and Kevin were sharing a drink of water from the water hose.
After her bath we set up her temporary coral in the large horse pen until the barn is finished. We put her up for the night, gave her dinner and it started to storm. She did really well with the Wind, Lightning and Thunder, until it started to rain. I think she was a little upset that she was getting wet again, so I moved the coral over a little more under the shader, she seemed to settle right down.
It was a wonderful first day for us all, welcome to your new home Little Miss Debutant, your new mommy loves you.
